Aviemore Medical Practice are looking for 6 weeks of locum GP cover to ideally provide 6 sessions per week (this is negotiable). The post would start towards the end of June and last for 5 - 6 weeks as agreed with the applicant.
The team at Aviemore Medical Practice are a forward thinking and innovative practice, delivering excellent continuity of care to our local patients and the many visitors to the area and we aspire to be at the forefront of Scottish Rural Primary care. Based in the new purpose built NHS hospital and primary care centre, the work is varied; we operate a designated minor injuries unit, provide GP medical cover for the 20 bed Badenoch and Strathspey Community Hospital, operate a drop in sexual health clinic and enjoy working with the many different visiting specialities who offer services at the hospital.
The Aviemore Practice team take our work seriously but in a relaxed way. We believe in ongoing learning for all our staff and there are opportunities to be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We have a holistic outlook and participate in “green” and “active” health partnerships.
Aviemore is an area of outstanding natural beauty but still well connected with rail and road links. Scotland’s outdoor sport capital, there are wonderful wildlife opportunities and quiet roads. We positively encourage a healthy work-life balance and members of our team work with the Ski patrol and Mountain rescue service. Some of our team prefer to be city based in Inverness but still enjoy a short stress free commute to work. We have a team focussed culture, where staff are typically long serving, and we are more community than business focussed when it comes to our patients.

- 5700 registered patients
- 1000 temporary patients/year
- Over 2000 MIU attendances/year
- 7 GP Partners, 1 Salary GP, 2 Practice Managers, 8 Practice Administrators, 2 Practice and MIU Nurse, 2 ANP, 2 Health Care Assistants
- Training practice commitments include GPST3, GPST2 and GPST1, ScotGem and Medical Students
- Provide GP input to attached MIU unit
- Provide GP medical services to the community hospital - (not expected of a locum GP)
- Vision and Docman
- Routine appointments of 15 minutes
