NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Were excited to be looking for a General Practitioner to join our experienced and close-knit team.

River Dee Medical Group is the first community interest company (CIC) to provide primary healthcare services in Scotland. We have a strong ethos of delivering innovative patient-centred care to the communities we serve. We also have a commitment to engagement with our communities to help support their priorities for health and wellbeing. In both communities, we aim to provide responsive but sustainable and holistic care.

We are passionate about education, training and staff development. We are a training practice for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and have a multidisciplinary teaching programme for pharmacists, nurses and doctors.

We practice mutually supportive working which enables both patient-centred care and fulfilling therapeutic and professional relationships. We also recognise a healthy work life balance is key to a long and productive career. We protect individual clinical workloads and our booking system allows for autonomy of workload management, whilst never losing sight of the need to provide a responsive service to our patients. A key element of this is close collaborative working with trusted colleagues within a tight and well-organised team. Additionally, we offer mentoring to newly qualified GPs to support them in their new career.

River Dee Medical Group runs two medical practices at present: Camphill Medical Practice and Torry Medical Practice.

CWT Health Matters: Issue 25 - Camphill Wellbeing Trust About Us - Camphill Devon, adults with learning disabilities, support work

Camphill is a small practice with a practice list of around 2,500 patients. The practice is located on the beautiful Murtle Estate in Aberdeen. The patient group is diverse, containing a concentrated learning disability community who make up approximately 25% of the patient list. Healthcare is delivered both at the practice and onsite in the residential community of Newton Dee. Clinical lead, Dr Stefan Geider, and another GP also have an interest in AnthroHealth. An interest in learning disabilities would be desirable.

Torry Medical Practice, led by Dr Adrian Crofton, is co-located in purpose-built premises which allow for friendly working within the larger MDT.  This includes health visitors, community nurses, physiotherapists, CPNs and midwives as well as third sector services such as counselling. This wider team helps provide holistic care to our patient group. The patient list is over 7,000 patients and our practice boundary is relatively small and well-defined, further enhancing the scope for community engagement and effective MDT working. There are significant areas of deprivation within the practice area, and the population is extremely diverse with a large immigrant population from all corners of the globe. This makes for very stimulating, varied and rewarding clinical experience.  An interest in health-inequalities would be desirable.

Both practices have fully established nurse-led chronic disease management, and practice employed in house pharmacotherapies services five days per week.

Both practices are actively engaged in the greener practices programme.

We place a great deal of importance on development of relationships with the community. We also contribute to the local community council as well as engaging with local schools.

If you are a new or established GP with an interest in learning disability or health inequalities and want to be part of a forward-looking innovative team that believes passionately in the potential of primary care, then please apply.

We currently have a vacancy for an 8 session GP at Torry Medical Practice and a 4 session GP at Camphill Medical Practice. Members of the Group are also entitled to seniority payments, and new GPs in the area can also claim Golden Hello awards.

Salary £105,692.69 WTE (8 sessions / 40 hours)

MDDUS membership included. We participate in childcare vouchers and cycle to work schemes.
